The PARAGON annual - 'tis a thing of beauty!

Here we have a few shots of the actual book itself and believe me when I say, it's gorgeous!
Why not treat yourself and buy a copy? You'd pay three quid for an american comic full of muscle men in spandex pants punching each other, but if you were brought up reading British anthologies in the 70s and 80s you will know there is so much more to comics than that, this is a continuation of that style...

What's inside the PARAGON annual?

Just a selection of the many stories and artwork inside this 68 page, square bound, A4 comic annual, and that doesn't include the Spencer Nero stories, Jikan tales or one-offs.
It's an astounding selection of tales - take a punt and buy a copy. It's a damned site better value than any American comic you can buy!

PARAGON annual - OUT NOW!!!

Imagine it’s the 70s/80s and you are a little kid sitting on Christmas day shovelling your selection box into your face as fast as you can chew and reading a hardback special edition of your favourite comic. Well, that’s what I’m trying to emulate here; new artists, reprints and text adventures featuring all your favourite characters from PARAGON;

Jikan – the time-travelling demon stalker

Spencer Nero – the British agent who finds superhuman strength whenever he dons the ancient roman Janus mask

Ganesh – the antics of the elephant-headed Hindu god, as if he was drawn by Dudley Watkins

Bulldog – the anthropomorphic protector of the skies above Blighty

And Icarus Dangerous – the ancient Greek who flew too close to the sun, melted his wings and crashed to earth… and was rescued by aliens. This is the sequel. You don’t need to have read the first book as all will be explained but I certainly recommend that you do

Stephen Prestwood

I was truly saddened to hear that my friend and fellow artist, Stephen Prestwood, has passed away. I've known Stephen for years; I think my first contact with him was around 2003 when he was drawing Bulldog in Jason Cobley's BAM! comic and we were both frequenting the Pencil Monkey forums hosted by PJ Holden. He took the piss out of me from a very early stage and I thought, here's someone I'm going to get on with. When I started looking for contributors to my own comic, his bold cartoony style was the first I thought of and he was the perfect fit  for Battle Ganesh. taking over from me as artist on issue 4

He went on to illustrate the complete Icarus Dangerous saga (available here) and then switched to return to his stint as Bulldog artist - a character he had drawn a decade earlier in Bulldog's own comic, BAM!

The writing team on PARAGON and I have agreed the next issue should be a tribute to his talent, reprinting some of his amazing art from his contributions to the strips he was involved with over the many years of small press work he did. I'm sure you'll agree, it will be an amazing issue celebrating his abilities.

A great guy and a great talent who will be sorely missed.

It's All Gone Quiet Over There...

It may seem all has gone quiet on the PARAGON front but I am steadily inking part three of the brilliant pencils from Tom Newell for the Bludd & Xandi story.

I already have two Spencer Nero stories in, a couple of one pagers, and I hope to have El Bigote back with us for the next issue (I know the art is all done). I'm also inking up the long promised Brahms and Liszt story (pencils are all done on episode one).

Now I'm just waiting patiently by my keyboard for the next script for Bulldog and we are good to go!

More Spencer, coming up!

If you've read the latest brilliant annual (and if you haven't, go and buy a copy now - you won't regret it!) you will have seen the splendid work of Scott Twells - and he has already drawn up another episode of the Civil Centurian's adventures

Keep an eye out for Spencer Nero and the Misapplication of Karma - coming soon!
